Arduino Simulator

Post by Joe_Chan »

Wanted to learn how to program an Arduino Uno without going out and buying the Uno and a bunch of simple/intro electronics?

https://www.sites.google.com/site/unoardusim/home
(got to the download page and download the latest zip file, unzip it into a directory and just run the UnoArduSim file).

This simulator should run on Windows 7/8.1/10 (I've done this on both 7 and 10 myself).

This is not the same thing as a real Arduino but it will get up in learning what the Arduino IDE work, how to do some simple programs to interact virtual hardware such as LEDs, Motors/Servo's, Piezo (buzzers), serial pots, etc.

Auto Desk has a cloud based version of any Arduino as well. I have not done any complicated projects in it but the simple stuff works.

You can also find most of the previos editions of any of the Make Magazine Books for free online. Here is the link to Getting starting with Arduino 2nd edition.

Haven't tried the Autodesk one yet. Could be a better option though. The Uno-Simulator can be used offline without a Internet connection so it's helpful in that regard.

The eBook definitely a nice to have for starter.
